Central Switzerland: Mecca of vantage points and world-famous mountain railways
The region around the Swiss Holiday Park offers countless wonderful hikes and rides on unique mountain railways to the most beautiful viewpoints. Nowhere else are there such a large number of mountain railways that are unique, have held world records for years or have created new ones. And many small mountain railways like the one in Uri provide nostalgic memories or an adrenalin kick. Already the rides offer unforgettable views and great photo subjects. The views of mountains and lakes inspire everyone. The Swiss Holiday Park in Morschach is located in the middle of it all and is an ideal starting point for excursions to the following most beautiful viewpoints.
The panoramic wonder: Stoos - Fronalpstock
The ridge hike is an easy tour that is also good for families. It offers a hammer view and can be reached from two sides from the Swiss Holiday Park: with the small cable car or from Schlattli (Muotathal) with the world's first, the steepest funicular in the world to the Stoos. A gradient of 100 percent = 47 degrees makes for a real experience. The also visually special cable car was opened in December 2017.
Morschach - Where the Swiss Holiday Park is at home
If you take a walk from the Swiss Holiday Park to enjoy a unique view, you will walk to the forest park, where you will be overwhelmed by the view of Brunnen, the Lake of Uri and the Alps of Uri. Depending on the weather, the lake changes its colours, from the deepest turquoise to dark shades of blue and grey.
Those who walk up to the golf course can also enjoy a far-reaching view over this fantastic region without much effort.
Rigi - Queen of the mountains
The Rigi lives up to its name. The queen of the mountains can be reached from various places: A total of nine railways go up to the Rigi. From Arth-Goldau, Vitznau and from Weggis the well-known cogwheel and cable railways go up to the Rigi Kulm. The smaller railways, such as the two brand new Küssnacht-Seebodenalp or Kräbel-Rigi Scheidegg, take you up to Rigi Kulm with an attached hike. No matter from which side you drive or hike up the Rigi, a great view is guaranteed.
Glacier paradise Titlis
It is not for nothing that the Titlis is so popular with foreign tourists. The TITLIS Rotair takes you up to the summit. During the 15-minute ride, the gondola rotates 360 degrees and guarantees a perfect all-round view of the glacier and the Alpine chain. On the TITLIS Cliff Walk, the spectacular suspension bridge high up at the summit, at an altitude of 3041 metres, you experience a spectacular glacier experience and a breathtaking view into the depths as you cross over 500 metres of precipice.
Ropeway Eldorado Uri
Hardly anywhere you will find so many unique cable cars as in Uri. No matter if you go to the region Andermatt Sedrun with a big gondola up to the Gemsstock or if you take a nostalgic or adventurous ride with one of the very small cable cars like the one from Bristen up to the Waldiberg, the views are guaranteed.
Pilatus
The journey from Morschach to the valley station of Lucerne's local mountain, the famous Pilatus, takes a good hour. You can reach this wonderful vantage point from Kriens by gondola and aerial cableway or from Alpnach in a spectacular half-hour ride on the world's steepest cogwheel railway up to Mount Pilatus, the dragon's mountain.
